They will be presented at the Club Meeting on Tuesday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cultural Center Education Room.

Comments: If you will be at the meeting and wish to comment on one of your pictures, please let us know when you submit your pictures. Your indicated picture will be in the Comment section of the presentation.

Please limit comments to about a one-minute length. Comments that address some of the technical items related to the picture are always appreciated.

We are not accepting written comments. If you will not be at the meeting or don’t wish to make a comment, all your slides will go into the slideshow with music which follows the Comment section.

Four: You may submit up to four pictures or short videos. Please, no more than four.

Titles: Don’t forget, please include the title for each picture. Short titles display better than long titles and give the viewer more time to appreciate the picture.

Send to: We’re organized to handle pictures sent to the challenge email using an efficient and routine procedure. If pictures are sent to the Camera Club email or to our personal emails we try to handle them and get them into the challenge, but it’s confusing and we may miss your submission.

Screenshots?: Also, please no screenshots or screen captures from your TV, or computer. We’d like an actual object or scene you’ve photographed. Part of the challenge fun is finding something that somewhat fits the theme.

Tips to Improve your challenge photos

1. Use the largest file size available on your camera. Your submissions are often used to select pictures for exhibits. We’d appreciate the largest file size you have to obtain the best quality large prints. Be especially careful when E-mailing your pictures. You’re often given the option to send smaller files for quicker transmission. Please avoid this option and send the largest file size possible.

2. When taking the picture, hold the camera as steady as you can, push the shutter release halfway to focus the camera, after the camera focuses, gently(!) press the shutter the rest of the way.

3. Horizontal oriented (landscape) pictures fill more of the screen and thus display better. Consider using a landscape orientation when taking pictures with your phone.

4. For best composition, consider the background and the lighting on the subject. Often moving to another position or raising or lowering the camera will improve the composition.

If you have any questions about these tips, or have a question about how to take a particular picture, or how to use a setting on your camera please send the request to ccwvchallenge@gmail.com
